When I was gr owning up in a pretty small town, one of the thing we liked doing when we were in high school was driving the drag from Sonic to McDonalds over and over and over. We used to stop at Sonic and hang out with our friends. Eventually Sonic decided not to allow us to park there anymore and would run us off. So we would have to find another place to hang out. We usually ended up at the roadside park and there was usually alot of cheep beer and wine coolers. So of course most of us would drink or even get drunk. We wanted to be cool.
Growing up in church I wanted to find something in the bible that said it was ok to do this. I never really looked it up for my self but I knew that somewhere in the Bible it said something about " Eat, Drink and be Merry. " I guess I lied to myself and allowed that to influence me into thinking that it is ok to get drunk, LOVE food and be a merry person, after all it was fun. We all want to just have fun, right?
Well I was recently challenged in one of my Bible studies with the actual part of the Bible that says this. I am understanding more and more how to put words and verses in their contexts. If you will read the following parable you will maybe understand why the Bible does not actually say "Eat, Drink and be Merry"
Now who has been a fool for so long? Me!
